Ravioli!!

Yes a new puppy!! Ravioli, or Ravi for short, is a sighthound called a Windsprite.

Why a windsprite? I had been crushing on Koolies, and some herding dog mixes but realized that it wasn't the right time in my family's life to add more oomph to our house. My household is "a lot" right now with the kids, and Loot already struggles with it at the intense times.

And even a playful lab or golden is a bit too much. Vaughn was a great foster and wasn't bothered at all by the kids, but he was also GAME ON! for joining in on the chaos!

Windsprites are reported to be great, chill, family dogs that can sleep thorugh the insanity. And hopefully once we're through the puppy stage Ravi will live up to that goal! And we will train for some sports too!

Right now we've spent the first week working on all things crate and xpen related!

Expect that june's video wrap up be full of puppy videos! And while I haven't posted many yet on social media, expect to be spammed there soon!

Bye Bye Cookie

Registration closes June15th, so grab it fast if you want to follow along!

Are you frustrated? Feeling like you’ve put a lot of time and effort into training the skills your dog needs to be successful, but training still feels very transactional and you're struggling to make it into the ring and keep your dog's focus when the food is gone.

In this class, we will help your dog develop the ability to work and focus even when there is no reward on your body. We will build up your dog's ability to work no matter where the reward is located and without any type of lid to prevent stealing!

Follow me on the social media platform of your choice to try and catch all my daily training videos. I hope they inspire you to try something fun with your dog! And join my free facebook group on building ring confidence for dog sports!

New month, and not a ton of new things this month with the dogs! Loot is still working on his strong fear of dogs barking and we're trying out some different medications. Ravioli is 8 months old! And likely in another sensitive period as he learns he's ok in busy environments, and that it is actually ok to run to preplaced toys again! Ravi reminds me so much of Loot as a puppy and how he holds on to little things and just wants to cuddle when unsure! And due to some major house stress with...

I wrote a new blog bost! This post on why I don't place the reward on the dog's line (at the foundation level). Without a foundation in knowing how to leave the reward to get the reward, I see so many dogs running blindly to it as the handler attempts to work sends. This results in dogs continually being called off the reward when they invetibly skip obstacles on the way there. People trying to block and guard the reward as they try to convince the dog to go back and try again. A lot of...

Loot got to do one trial this month. A single ring small CDSP trial. He was heavily managed to be in the building only right before his turns so that the odds of having a dog bark while he was there was lowered. And we lucked out. No barking. He was happy to go in the ring and while his precision wasn't there, he kept his attitude! New CDX-C title!
