Freya is working on so many things right now I thought I'd give her a full recap just for her! (Plus I slighted her on my December training video email by not including her!) This is for you Freya fans! I have to say that I'm so proud of how well she's not just eager to train but actually sticking with it more when things are a bit tough. We still have sessions where she just can't do anything but rub, but mostly she's excited to go and gets mad when I don't do an evening session! Recent Videos!Footstall! I was inspired by another trainer to teach a footstall! She was mad when I ran out of treats in this session! (Spoiler alert: We have it now! Just haven't finished uploading the video to my tiktok feed!) Freya is learning how to pivot clockwise! I want to teach her heeling on the right side once she knows how to pivot in this direction. This foundation is important for your fronts too! And a progress update on teaching her to get into my side! I'm having so much fun with Freya learning rally type of heeling! I haven't yet mixed in position changes and stays, but this type of doodle heeling is fun! We're also working on that skill of backing up in heel! Freya knows how to backup when facing me, to her target at least. And she's done a tiny bit of backing up in heel as we were working on her pivoting skills. But the consistency of it just isn't there. Plus she's super confused if there's no target! Fancy Malinois, or fluffy kitty? So hard to tell! Hello Reader! I hope that the start of spring is bringing in some happiness! Some more training outside for me, in between the rain at least! I've continued my "Box feeding" experiment with Loot this month and am starting to make some huge progress! I slowly added in moving stuff around him while his head is in the box waiting for the next treat. For those not keeping up with our issue, he has developed an extreme fear of my club' straining building, specifically related to the fear of ring...
First, here is your reminder that it's the last day to register for classes this session! The dogs had their last local indoor agility trial this weekend before the outdoor season begins!! It was also Ginny's first time back since her long break after her spay. And unfortunately, the trial was harder for her than I expected. I was a bit disappointed on Saturday as we had been making such nice progress! It's hard to see them take steps back. Thankfully while it felt slow and meh, it wasn't all...
Almost spring! The snow will melt and soon I'll be able to do way more training outside! Loot is making some progress on his PTSD from the 2 "incidents" at the training club from last summer and then 2 months ago. I'm currently leaving him in the car and training him when all classes are done for the night. But I have been able to bring him out a few times to do some very short turns during one of my classes! He struggles when he's close to the other rings, but is trying ridiculously hard....
