Freya is working on so many things right now I thought I'd give her a full recap just for her! (Plus I slighted her on my December training video email by not including her!) This is for you Freya fans! I have to say that I'm so proud of how well she's not just eager to train but actually sticking with it more when things are a bit tough. We still have sessions where she just can't do anything but rub, but mostly she's excited to go and gets mad when I don't do an evening session! Recent Videos!Footstall! I was inspired by another trainer to teach a footstall! She was mad when I ran out of treats in this session! (Spoiler alert: We have it now! Just haven't finished uploading the video to my tiktok feed!) Freya is learning how to pivot clockwise! I want to teach her heeling on the right side once she knows how to pivot in this direction. This foundation is important for your fronts too! And a progress update on teaching her to get into my side! I'm having so much fun with Freya learning rally type of heeling! I haven't yet mixed in position changes and stays, but this type of doodle heeling is fun! We're also working on that skill of backing up in heel! Freya knows how to backup when facing me, to her target at least. And she's done a tiny bit of backing up in heel as we were working on her pivoting skills. But the consistency of it just isn't there. Plus she's super confused if there's no target! Fancy Malinois, or fluffy kitty? So hard to tell! Happy fall! Raviloi is now a full teenager and the most "teenagery" I've had with independence! Still a very easy puppy, but he's lost a bit of the toy skills we had build in well, actually bringing the toy back to me! And a bit further range from me on hiking, alhtough still a nice response to being called back. Loot is still working through sound sensitivity and I'm bubble wrapping him with management when he goes to class. I was hoping for an agility trial in October but I don't think that...
Ravi just turned 5 months! I don't know how he keeps getting leggier than he already is! Loot is still on a hiatus from trialing as we work through his fear of dogs barking that started this past February and quickly got bad. Medications are helping to some degree, and we are working on box feeding in certain conditions. Here he's working on doing his box feeding while a dog he knows is running in an agility seminar and doing only occasional barking. This pitch of barking isn't his main...
Ravioli just turned 4 months! He's a sweet boy who would currently rank his top 2 motivators as snuggling and toy play! And like most sighthounds, he is sensitive soul who wants to climb inside me when he's unsure. Right now we're slowly building skills with food and doing as much foundation work as I can with toys as his motivation is so much higher! We dont have a high number of "skills" taught, but I'm pretty happy with where he's at right now. His biggest challenge remains being...
