For fans only (Freya fans!)

Freya is working on so many things right now I thought I'd give her a full recap just for her! (Plus I slighted her on my December training video email by not including her!) This is for you Freya fans!

I have to say that I'm so proud of how well she's not just eager to train but actually sticking with it more when things are a bit tough. We still have sessions where she just can't do anything but rub, but mostly she's excited to go and gets mad when I don't do an evening session!

Recent Videos!

Footstall! I was inspired by another trainer to teach a footstall! She was mad when I ran out of treats in this session! (Spoiler alert: We have it now! Just haven't finished uploading the video to my tiktok feed!)

Freya is learning how to pivot clockwise! I want to teach her heeling on the right side once she knows how to pivot in this direction. This foundation is important for your fronts too!

And a progress update on teaching her to get into my side!

I'm having so much fun with Freya learning rally type of heeling! I haven't yet mixed in position changes and stays, but this type of doodle heeling is fun!

We're also working on that skill of backing up in heel! Freya knows how to backup when facing me, to her target at least. And she's done a tiny bit of backing up in heel as we were working on her pivoting skills. But the consistency of it just isn't there. Plus she's super confused if there's no target!

Fancy Malinois, or fluffy kitty? So hard to tell!

Upcoming February Classes

Registration opens January 22nd for the next session.

This class is everything you need to start looking at obedience trials!

It will be a mix of working on the "skills" (lots of heeling! fronts! exams!)

and then an introduction to ring prep skills and rewards at a distance.

This class is designed both for those who don't know where to start, and for teams who have done a bit of everything but still feel a bit hesitant to pull everything together.

TEAM classes are not required to take this class, but take a look at the prereqs!

Apollo has just finished his last days with us as I completed his service dog evaluation and training "boot camp." He has continued on to another long-term foster, but you will continue to see a few videos of his training as I go through my phone! And big news for my family is that we are unexpectedly moving houses (still staying in Minnesota)! Very busy last 2 weeks as this opportunity came up, and will continue being crazy the next few weeks as we move into a temporary setup to get our...

Ginny went to the Midwest Cup this June. This is a hard trial for her, as it's loud in multiple rings, but she truly did quite well and even managed to sneak on the podium in the biathlon! Ravioli's still going through diet changes to try and help him feel ok. It makes training pretty darn limited as he often doesn't feel up to it, even using toys. I made this post on Facebook for a general update And Loot will be doing a local agility trial this weekend. His first time back trialing at this...

Thank you all who said you were ok with me cross posting the Ring Confidence facebook post group posts here! Magnet Hand Have you taught your dog to keep their nose glued to the food, even when you're moving? I talked about this in a recent post on helping our dogs not sniff, and I thought I'd make it into its own post. Magnet hand! For some dogs, this practically comes pre-installed, and you don't have to do much for the actual teaching of it. And for other dogs, you really have to work hard...
